Kapas Island Resort is located on the Kapas Island in Terengganu, east coast of the Peninsular Malaysia. To get to the island from the jetty is about 15 minutes’ drive from Kuala Terengganu town and about 30 minutes’ drive from Kuala Terengganu airport. It will takes about 10 to 15 minutes from the Marang Jetty to the Kapas Island Jetty by a speed boat. Alternatively, if you choose to drive from Kuala Lumpur directly to the Marang Jetty, it will takes approximately 5 hours. One good thing is that Marang Jetty has plenty of parking lots.
Once you arrived at the main jetty on the island, you are very near to the resort already. It only requires a few minutes’ walk from the jetty to the resort. The resort offers great accommodation with about 60 units of wooden chalet including 16 seaview chalet, 24 garden view chalet and 20 deluxe chalet. Besides the comfortable rooms, you may find many facilities for you to enjoy and use during your holiday at the Kapas Island Resort such as swimming pool, multi-purpose halls and open-air hall, karaoke room and surau. Indoor games like board games, congkak, mahjong and cards are being organized for guests to participate. All these indoor facilities and activities will definitely keep you busy for quite some time.
There are also many outdoor activities available at the resort. For sports lover, you may join in a match of volleyball or beach football. Besides sports, there are nice trails which is prefect for jungle trekking. For more adventurous folks, you may try activities like kayaking and canoeing. This can be arranged with the reception of the resort informing them your preference time so that a session can be organized.
Other famous activities to do in the island is the marine activities like snorkeling, squid catching and fishing. The service charge to have a snorkeling activity around the island is priced appropriately. The fees for renting the equipment to snorkel is very affordable too. The island is well known for its squid catching activity especially during the months of April to September each year. Tourists from all around the world will swarm this area to experience this unique activity by following local fishermen to catch squids during the night time. If you are lucky enough, there are chances that you will catch giant squid. All the squids caught can be served barbequed or to be prepared by the restaurant at the resort with only a minimal charge.
One of the main activity during your stay at the resort is none other than scuba diving. The key attraction is the World War II ship wreck which serves as a very good diving spot. It has shallow water making it an ideal spot for beginners for training.
